Miniature Painting Noobs.. and the whole Noob Network

     This has been my hobby for almost 40 very rewarding years, and no part of it has been more rewarding than inspiring other people to enjoy every aspect of this hobby, being painting, sculpting, building or even just running games in general. 


    One of the best ways that I have contributed to the hobby is the Miniature Noob Network.


    Created by a bunch of like minded people we started with two groups on Facebook: Miniature Painting Noobs and Miniatures Sculpting Noobs(links below) We started this perhaps 5 or 6 years ago now and at the time of writing the Painting group has well over 30k in membership! (I found a post from July 2020 that says the group had 7000 members, so a lot of growth during the pandemic)

    The really exciting thing is creating a place where people of all skill levels feel comfortable posting their work, and then watching it grow from a small handful of your friends to, frankly, a monster you can barely control anymore.  I get a lot of positive feedback about the group and how its been a great place for people to start their journey. Here are some examples that really make my day

 honestly, the vibe of this group is second to none.

So I searched for "miniature painting groups" on Facebook, you guys came up as one of the top groups. You had a lot of daily posts for my usual tastes, but I liked the vibe and figured I could always leave if it was too much, so I joined up. Best thing I did in regards to this hobby.


Searched for a mini group.  Been a member of a handful of a few and left them. Just weren't what I needed. Found this group and been loving it here


 speaking as a NOOB, and I mean a true noob I can't begin to tell you how much this group means to me. I've just started painting (literally I've painted 1 mini) when I joined and you invited me to post a pic. Now I know that you weren't speaking to me personally. It's something you invite all new members to do, but I want you to know that the response from other members to my post was overwhelmingly positive! People that are far more accomplished had nothing but positive things to say about my 1st attempt. It made me feel like this is something I can do and really enjoy, and for that I am truly grateful. And judging by the number of members in this group and the responses to this thread, I feel that there are WAY more people who feel this way than not.

I really love this group because its inspirational and practical.

I’ve only been a part of this group for a short amount of time, but I love the things that people post here - it genuinely brightens my day and inspires my own creativity.

I've only been painting a few weeks and I've found this group to be very supportive and non judgemental of others

I could go on with these all day, its an inspiring place to learn with interesting people and the Facebook groups are only the tip of the ice, we have a Discord Server too!

Who is your daddy and what does he do? Or.. who the heck are you dude?

 A little about me.      I have been painting and playing with 25-28mm toy soldiers since the early 80s. My father was into the hobby(still is sort of) and as a child he a great collection of Ral Partha Colonials which really set my imagination on fire like nothing else, at least until I discovered 40K. I grew up playing with minis by companies like Heritage, Ral Partha, Grenadier, Frontier, Falcon, Hincfliffe and many others besides.      Around 9 years old I painted my first minis, I still have them too. They were King Arthur and Sir Mordred from Heritage.
